Somehow or other, we ended up with a steel clad shed in our garden (buy us a coffee and we'll tell you the story!). This came about because we saw a need for a space that wasn't in the main building where people could do messy activities, or just somewhere to get away from it all. Thanks to a grant from The People's Health Trust, the Airport Community Trust and Solihull Together, we have restored, clad and are equipping the sapce. It will serve as a workshop, art shed, training room and a base for Chelmlsey Wood Stonecarvers.
From being a dark, grotty portacabin it is now a bright, warm flexible space, complete with woodburner. We are working with Ronnie Cashmore, a local artist, to get the space used. As well as the stone carving group the shed has hosted real ale nights, exhibitions, lecture and discussion groups, art classes and gardening teams.
If you're looking for a space to get creative, messy or an alternative training venue, get in touch. We think you might like it.
The Artshed is not quite finished as we have some work to do sorting out the access and a bit more equipping. Let us now if you can help.
